It is used as a primer for cotton fiber dyeing and printing, and can also be used as an intermediate for lake pigments. Nophenol AS-E is mainly used for dyeing cotton, and is also used for dyeing viscose fiber and silk. It is generally not used for printing. Often combined with blue base or blue salt to dye dark blue and navy blue. Also used in the manufacture of lake pigments.
